Battle Plans : Attack Balancing

Well... I know I said I'd try to post more, but my senior year hit me like a brick wall :S

Moving back to todays topic! Attack balancing.

Now what is it exactly?

Attack Balancing is simply being able to carefully ballance your attacks between high damage or long duration battles. What I mean by those is for high damage, of course, means dealling as much damage as possible in one foul swoop. On the flip-side there are those long drawn out battles too that you need to last in.

First we will cover the high damage aspect of attack balancing.

I personally love this playing style. It's how I am. And everyone plays differently. Coming back to the topic, high damage doesn't sound to hard does it? Stick two Super-cooled rain in there and BLAMO! That's actually not entirely true. Sure that does work, but the you have 10 more Build Points for 18 more cards, not to good is it? So a better idea is to look at your deck and play on those stregths obviously, so if say you have my personal favorite Blazvatan =D he has Air and earth 5, so that makes a 3BP attack called Whirling winds do as much damage as the 5BP Super-cooled rain. Conserving BP? I think so. *insert lame British Petrolium joke here* Not you can't always use an awesome creature like Blazvatan. But the main Idea is to balance your weak and strong attacks. My hard hitting deck is balanced like so -> 2 3BP cards, 4 2BP cards, 6 1BP cards 8 0BP cards. Balancing one similarilly is probably agood idea. Not I'm not discouraging you from trying a deck with Super-cooled rain. Another good thing to do is pack attacks like Twister of elements or Squeeze play in order to sort through your deck and pluck out all of the weak little 0BP cards. Then packing a Vial of liquid thought to recycle a weak attack in your hand for that super strong attack you just played. There are many ways to work with the 0BP cards! Find 'em and please be creative =D

Now the long term balancing.

The long term balancing is more directed at Danians and Overworlders, since they tend to stay alive the longest xD. A long term battle deck usually consists of LOTS of 1 BP attack cards and are usually balanced like so -> 2-4 2BP cards, 2-4 0BP cards, the rest are 1BP. I sadly can't say too much for long-term decks, becasue I play Mipedians. Now the attacks of a long term deck should actually try to deal as much consistant damage as possible. Why? Everybody has had their one REALLY powerful attack that would win the battle countered by a Meldoy of Mirage and then they draw nothing for the rest of the battle, so the plus side to long-term decks is that they aren't really effected by this. Why? Well if everyone of your attacks deals 15-20 damage and they are at 15 and use melody of mirage your attack, it doesn't really matter since you have another 15-20 damage attack waiting in you hand and deck! =D

So I hope enjoyed or even understood the point I was trying to get across. I also do not say one style is better over the other, they are both equally effective.

Battle Plans : Tactical Positioning

So I'm back for a bit! And I'm starting a new series of articles that I hope catches on!

So What I plan to achieve with this series of articles is to cover topics about the Chaotic battlefield from specifics like today's topic, Tactical positioning, to much more vague things like plain ol' movement. The idea is give players, new and old, more things to think bout when playing.

So tactical positioning (I'm going to shoten it to TPing, for now xD) is basically my strongest virtue when playing chaotic. Basiclly the idea behind TPing is to line up your creatures to force you opponent to move somewhere they don't want to, or to attack with a creature they'd rather not attack with. It is also used defensively. A huge example is warbeasts an conjourors. You have be able to move your warbeasts so they can defend your conjourors AND attack your opponents at the same time. This is a bit of a challenge, but trust me after losing a dozen or so matches in a row, you begin to learn tricks that help not only with a Wabeast deck, but every other deck too. If you have ever played against one of my warbeast decks, you may notice how I move all of my creatures nearly every single turn. This is because I am trying to keep my Conjourors (or Mugicians in some cases) Whilst keeping the pressure on you to defend your own

So lets put a scenario up (This is something that I may do with each article as well)

You are playing a powerful Warbest army and your just won the first battle descisively, defending your spot as it was their turn. The creature in one of the D,E or F spots is coded. So now it is your turn and you move one of the Warbeasts in Spot 1,2 or 3 to attack one of the two creatures left in your opponents front row, you win leaving one more of their front row creatures left. Now you have a choice you can take another warbeast from your front row and and put on the pressure by having 2 warbeast on the offense and 1 on the defense, or you can leave it as is with 2 defending and 1 attacking. Which do you think is smarter? Answer in the comments below please.

Slowing to a crawl

Sadly no new set has been released in while and Chaotic is slowing to a crawl. I'm not quitting by no means. I love playing Chaotic. But lately there isn't a whole lot of fun to be had. There a no new cards and there are a lot of bugs still out there. If the could clear 50% of the bugs I would be a happy guy and I would be able to build some new decks to show you guys. But sadly I can't build new decks without new cards. So until either they fix eough bugs or a new set comes out I probably won't be posting any new blog entries.

Feeling EVIL! With a small Kerb History leason

I feel a little Underworldish lately...

*WARNING KERBEROS HISTORY LESSON*

Maybe it's that oldfeeling that I had when I used to play hardcore Underworld =D. Just as a cool fact Before the game game actually came out they lent us these printable demo decks one OW and one UW that you could use to try the game (since the game wasn't set up online yet) So me and a friend printed them off stuck them in some sleeves with Magic cards as support xD. I played OW and he play UW. Yes that is right I started off playing Overworlders. but the day that the game came out was the day a girl I liked asked me to goto a dance (This was back in like grade 9 xD) So I couldn't get the cards so my friend offered to pick them up and I told him to get me a deck and 3 packs. I thought he would give me the OW deck since he knew I liked Overworlders.... Nope he gave the Underworld deck! *sigh* W/e I was still better than him xD. My friend sadly no longer plays (NOT DUE TO F&S IF I MAY ADD).

Vunhra!

So This guy is actually quite fun to use in nearly any mixed deck that has all, or most of the main Combatants that are non-danian. Place Vunhra in there and pack an Ode to Obscurity mugic and BLAM-O! Four creatures infected! Chances are though that they only have four or less creatures to be used as combatants, so this makes cleaning up the mess of your oppoents deck, just that much easier! ;D

Kalt?! Yes Kalt. I think that this guy is EXTREMLY tactical in ANY deck that has an elementist that needs an element and with things like Inner Flood and Na-inna (for Mixed deck users like me) He makes it easy for you to gain elements, just be sure to check that your creature types are elementists. Then if you want to get reall fancy you can go 3v3 and have two Kalts boost each other! Hows that for spiffy! Be creative with this guy! Keep an eye out for this guy in an upcoming deck video ;) ... Yup I just need to get my Video editing software working and it'll be good! You guys will hear so much from me you'll be sick of me before you know it!

THE CHAOTIC CARD GAME WILL CONTINUE!

There. Happy? No? How do I know this?

Yes it is entirely true that 4KidsTV is dropping Chaotic (the TV series) But that doesn't mean the Show, nor the game will be disappearing anytime soon.

How many different cartoon studios do you know of? I can't list them all thats for sure. THERE ARE A LOT OF THEM!. And one of them I am sure is willing to buy/take Chaotic from 4KidsTV to continue the show.

Now for the game. The only conection to the game that 4KidsTV actually had was simply influencing it to be a childrens card game, The story (Not Tom, Kaz and ect.) Is driven by TC Digital Entertainment. This means that they have full control over the game. THEY WILL NOT DROP THE GAME.

Oh and BTW sorry for recent inactivities.

So I have been once again really busy, that and My computer is in the shop so I have been using my mom's laptop... Anyway!

Well I feel this really needs to be brought to attention. I played about 3 or 4 Warbeast decks yesterday... And they ALL SUCKED. I mean they had Blaz Kileron and Glost, One even had Khorror instead of Glost! It was just too easy to slip by them. Warbeast players, believe it or not. Actually NEED to play defensively. Yes use those huge Warbeast as defensive creatures. Don't ever move all of your Warbeasts so that they can't defend! Especially if you are playing any form of a revival deck!!!! Now the reason I chose Gaffat-ra Because he is a prime example of the warbest that should stay behind with the conjours, even if he loses he still saved the conjouror and now you have time to react and save most if not all of your conjourors.

Blaaxa! Now Why Blaaxa? Well I don't see a very good use for him if he isn't brainwashed. So lets brainwash him *makes weird noises* There we go! So look at that ability... What is a Generic Mugic you ALL hate being played on you and that 95% of decks use? Cadence Clash? Thought so. Has it clicked yet? No? Well Brainwashed creatures can only play Generic mugic so if any of your creatures have mugic counters they could play it AFTER you negate your opponents Cadence Clash, with one of you copies by simply revealing it to them. I think that is a pretty sweet idea, eh?

Yup, Grantkae! I love this guy, Awesome in every way! Good Mipedian stats, High Speed and Good energy, he comes with Air and a Mugic counter! But that is not my reason for this guy winning the title of my personal favourite. He gives Massive boosts to your other creatures, not like the other generals, which first requires something or only boost them-self. Gorram, yes he does give the other creatures a boost, but only if a creature of the right tribe is in your discard pile. Barrath, requires a sacrifice and then boosts himself. Tangath is like Grantkae in that he just needs them to be there, but he only boosts himself. THAT is why I have always Liked Grantkae better than the other generals. Not Because he is a Mipedian. Though that is a nice touch. :P

After hearing Kerb's (LONG) explanation on BattleGear and Creatures, I'd have to say he made very good choices of having Phoenix Belt on Owayki, and since he's Sacrificing Gear, even if he doesn't have a Bodal's Arsenal, Owayki's Power will go to Iflar anyway. And besides that, Kerb mentioned something I didn't even know till now: It's "Mipedians you Control," not just the Equipped Creature! Makes it great for any kind of extra-Mugic Counters Army. And besides that, it's flipped facedown at the end of Combat, but there's still the possibility of an Ozlai's Wreck since Headmaster's "Untargetable" doesn't cover your Creature's BattleGear(unless I'm mistaken). Still, a very rare occurance.

Then you have 8 counters as Hybrid, and then Range on Headmaster for Defending the Xelfe's(even though he has low Energy). It's still pretty awesome. Great choices of Creatures and BattleGear.

Again, even listening to Kerb's long speech, I liked these Mugic before he explained them. Why, you ask? Well, it's Mugic from BEFORE the Invasion, you don't see that anymore, Melody of Mirage is always a great one(even though the OverWorld now has Symphony of Shielding), Strain of Expensive Delusions can always get rid of a pesky Mirage(AKA Mipedim Mirage) and Fanfare of the Vanishing gives you Strike 15 for ONE Counter! Very good Mugic, you don't even need to double-check them!

Great attacks. I like the idea of recycling through your Attack Deck for better attacks, really good choice, AND you get to do 10 base damage while you're at it! You can always skip the 100 Speed boost with Obscuring Winds if you've already used it once, which is also a great choice. The only Attack I don't really like is Poison Steam, but you can always skip it with the 4 Attack Recyclers.

I also like the Valley(and nice choice of all Mipedim Locations, haha). There could be a downside with Lounge, but there's always the risk that you could get 10 additional damage too, so why not? You could always play Strain to get rid of it(with the risk of destroying your own BattleGear). Very good Locations.

As always, Kerb has a lot of Originality to what kind of Army to make, he always finds great Combos to use(that Warriors of Owayki might be tough to beat, unless there's a Discord of Disarming. Even so, he's got a lot of Strike to watch out for).

I give it a 10/10. There's nothing he hasn't thought of that could make this Army beat, even with the downside of the Lounge (which might not even be drawn at all!).

Why... Welll I'm in High school right... and semester 1 is ending friday.... That's right... finals.... FINALS! ARGH I know, I don't like it either, it's one week of H***, but I'll truck through and once (since we can get recommended not to write a final, but we have to write two no matter what) I finish my exams I will be able to have some free time in there somewhere, so I'll make a deck FOR SURE!

What is the Metagame... Exactly?

No answer? Not Easy to Define is it?

I said the same thing, but then I found this statement by somebody somewhere.

“The metagame refers to the game universe outside of the game itself.”

Now what does that mean? Gawd All of these questions! Well what the above quote means is that the metagame is anything that affects the game, that shouldn’t. So for example, Hikeda and I are having a match, and In the terms of the game, I should have no preconception of to what kind of deck Hikeda will use, but since I know the guy fairly well ( as well as you can through skype and an internet card game :P) I know that he will probably use Underworlders. And from my knowledge of underworlders I know that they are usually high damage dealing decks, so therefore I have a small understanding of what style Hikdea might play.

QUICK, Think of what Deck Hikeda will play, Creatures, EVERYTHING!

...

You thought of a typical Burn Deck Right? Don’t lie. You probably did, Don’t worry EVERYONE did. So I just thought of what deck Hikeda will play. So I can already assume a way to counter-act it, like for example, With massive healing, or a mugic negation deck.

Now this is ALL happening before I even started the Match! I could be completely and utterly wrong and he could use one of Keekers’ overworld decks.

My point here... Try to avoid the metagame ENTIRELY! In otherwords, try your absolute hardest, everytime you go into a match to have no preconceptions of what deck the opposition will be useing. Now that is not saying Don’t go in expecting nothing. Just expect anything!

Just try this next time you play your best friend and you’ll be surprised at how different you’ll play.

So as you have noticed it has been REALLY quiet lately around here ._. I'd Like to change that ^_^. How? By having ANOTHER competition, but the prize is MUCH bigger this time! How Much bigger? So MandibleMuge is having a contest on The Danian Hall to try and influnce some new Danian Players, Eh? Well as a Mipedian Player I can't let that happen, Sooo I am Having a Contest Too! Pretty much the Same rules except all about the Mipedians, So I want you to submit (To Kerberos (Dats me :P) on Chaotic) a Deck focused on Mipedians! Classic Strikers , Warbeasts, even Mixed decks (But they have to focus around Mipedians)

The Prize? I'll give you three guesses... Look down. :D

So since I am Basing this of off MandibleMuge's contest I will rate the deck similar to his

"Originality: (You can use the same old Nimmei build, but if you put an original spin on it, you will get more points)
Effectiveness: (Using random cards is original.. will it win a match?)
Mechanics: (Does it really work? Be sure to brush up on your rulings before you submit a deck!)
Consistency: (Does everything work together? Do your attacks, elements, locations and creatures mesh together? Do you have control-tendencies in an aggro deck that dont fit?)

Rules!
1 - These decks can be hypothetical. You do not have to actually have the cards. However, keep it practical. If there is an ultra in somewhere where a common could be used, you could lose marks.
2 - Please do not copy decks. This is almost impossible to police, but to reinforce this, do not show anyone else your deck! If you do not show anyone else your deck, and it's original, then no one can have copied you.
3 - Tournament ends 20th November.
4- I WILL not Accept decks from people who have not read the rules, So to confirm this in you message any put, Obey Iflar!

This Time We have...

Once again I picked a guy most people won't look at right away (i tend to do that don't I? :P) Anyways This essentially when he engages a creature he knocks off 10 energy off of the opposition then if you pack an Aerosion you can not only flip their gear down, but also deal a grand total of 25 damage and thats not including any gear you have on Fasseph!! I'm not so sure why he isn't used a ton, but after this I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the dromes s'more!

Now I know this guy is really powerful and I agree, there is only one problem with him though... If you come across a deck the can revive, even once, you lose. Why? Well because Gintanai can only win 6 times before he is destroyed.... So if they bring on back... your in trouble, because you have to win seven times... Yes if you have another Warbeast Sure use him, but if they know this they can willingly engage Gintanai and get you to keep sacrifice creatures. Another Flaw is if you lose one of you other creatures first... You lose. His matches have to picture perfect... He is great in 1v1 though!

o.o..... WOW, umm.... This guy is powerful!! I mean Fire 5, He deals 5 damage for each creature you control on your opponents side of the board AND he has Nice Power and energy. This guy works REALLY well with Chaor TF. and he isn't Loyal!! Also since this guy has two counters, I'm sure Hikeda will agree that this should have been Chaor The not so fiercely fierce MC and abilities and such. :P

A very interesting use of the new "counter" system. The counter system is used so far (i beleive) solely on UW, but it is a very interesting system. With Khybon here you gain Magma counters to uses at you whim to deal 40 damage to the engaged creatures. Also since it is an ability it is very tough to counter, because Untargetable won't stop this! BTW he ain't Loyal either!

This guy has some potential with some disiplineers! I mean "cant fail stat check"!?! That is pretty self explainitory Right there!! Those Directed Bravery's will now deal FULL damge every time even if all of your stats are at 5!! This guy is mostly support however because even though his stats are nice, you don't really want to lose this guy

This is the first creature I will reveiw with expend... And boy does it rock!!! I mean come on, each and every urn look at you location deck! for ,no cost! simply lose Earth. This gives a LOT of creatures unlimited ammo! My friend put it quite nicely, "Which would you rather have a machine gun with one clip or a bolt action rifle with as many shots as you need?"

Dalgad

Dalgad is pretty sweet, he is one of very few creatures to have PURE fire and water So this makes him invaluable in decks with Fire/water attacks. Then his ability increases damage if he attacks with an elemental attacks, he doesnt eve have to have the element!

A very nice , basic abilty. Heal ten damage once every turn, this can be nice or not so nice. Nice because as with ANY vexpend ability you have unlimited ammo! But only one per turn... So it is really up to what you preffer!

This guy is teh BOMB! He copies ANY creature on your oppoents side! So what if they have an Iparu MA? Can you copy your own creatures?? Food for thought! Alone though In a 1v1 he is not so good though as you are FORCED to copy them...

Now I haven`t done one in a while, cause of school starting up and such, but I don`t have school today, So while the tourney is running I may as well do this.

So today we have...

Eremia, my personal favorite from SLAU. Why? Simply because of her looks and ability. Her art is freaking amazing!! Her ability also is pretty awesome too, It states that she gains any elements lost by creatures you control. So expend works wonderfully with her! Pair her up Donmar TT and Blazier CC, and now you have Earth and Water, Heal ten energy adn you get to look at your location deck! The put Hune Canin with her and now she has Fire! Or Pair her up with Ifjann because Eremia isn`t Loyal, The she gains Air and if she is adjacent, Untargetable, or maybe she is not nearby, but a muge is, save him instead and Eremia Still gains air! She has High Energy and nice stats, a mugic counter, she is unique, but still awesome!

And then there were five.... Unfortunatly the whole online tournament isn't working out for aRawrg and he decided to drop. So did Mandible for reason too. But he still gets his reward card like everyone else. The rewards are rare codes. So everyone PM me which card specifically you want. then a second choice, then a tribe or card type, so in case I have neither of your choices.

So yeterday/2days ago Many of us saw the entire (or most) of the Secrets Lost: Alliances Unraveled set. I was One of the few whom saw it and I am very fortunate to have a great knoledge of computers, so I discovered how to pull a few cards that I have seen out of my history, now unfortunately the only way you could do this is if you viewed them by right clicking on the card and hitting "view background image" That then brings you to a separate page and allows you to view it in the history as a separate web address.You guys will really like which four I saved ^^

Now these ar the only four Tribeless creatures. So Far. I really do hope to see more! ^^

All Entries are now being refused as of today at noon *relevant to your time zone* And currently we have 7 players... This means no top 8... Instead it will be a top 4! We will still play 3 Swiss rounds giving everyone a fair chance at the prizes! Please us the chat-box to plan for the match-ups. I will give one week for the matches to be completed. I am also going to make everyone report in each day. This is to make sure that you are at least trying to match up against your opponent. So also since we only have 7 players this means that one person will have to sit out each round on something called a "buy". Alright then I'm holding a tournament! Right from CCampaigns, rather than on the forums, easier to follow then! Just So you guys know I do have Prizes, In fact I have 3 super rare, unentered codes sitting in front of me. The Three are Vidav MS, Magmon R and Gigantroper, though these are subject to change throughout the durration of the tourney, due to the pulling of more supers. This is a full fledged tourneyment, in other words, just like one that you would go to in real life, but Played online instead. This means that we will be playing Swiss style. And if we have more than eight people playing that will lead to a top eight match. The prize structer will be as follows...

Format: 6v6 Masters (pad)

1st place - Super rare of choice (from the 3) and two random rare codes
2nd Place - Super rare of choice (from the remaining two after winners choice)
3rd Place - The last of the three Super rares
Top 8 (only if we get more than Eight people) - A random rare or OP (while supplies last :P)
For Participating - a Common card of choice, So long as I have it. This will be distributed at the end of round two.

When you send in your request to join the tournament you must do two things. Firstly you must send a COMPLETE deck list. I will look at the deck list and compare it to the current bug out there, if it does not meet requirements I will notify you and you will have make the according changes. One the tourney has started your decks are "locked". I will go by your word that you will not make any changes to your deck. But if you are caught you will be kicked out from the tourney, not get any prizes and not be aloud to participate within any activitys on my site anymore. So please do not modify your deck after the end of the first round. Thank you. Secondly please When you E-mail/ PM me put the word somewhre in there, Boogity Boogity, Tis sounds weird I know, but this ensures that you are reading the rules. Now during a match if you are battling someone and a glitch occurs, please imediatly take a picture. Do not get mad at them and call thema cheat. Why? Because this means this is a new bug because it has made it through my screening system, so they are at no fault. The match shall become a draw and both players awarded points, and the glitched deck will be allowed to be modifyed, or in some cases changed entirely.

Alright, If you any attention to the Army builds section of the forums, you may have noticed that I had a Deck called Gorram's Offence up there. After I built that Deck I wanted to build a Deck for each General In where combat is mainly focused on them. For TTOG and BBUG it will be easy, but for Grantkae and Gorram that is a challenge, one I arose to and built one around my new Gorram! Epitrinne and Ragetrod are for Sacrificing purposes only. Now the the whole Vidav or Najarin thing goes like this. if you use Vidav, you can use Vidav's ability (when Quarters of the Quartet comes up) to compensate for the sacrificing you have done, so that you have four tribes and you gain "untargetable by opponents". If you play Najarin... That is pretty Basic. Gain a crap load of counters and use 'em

This deck is highly experimental... as in I have never actually built it... But I have been playing around with the idea. So this deck is all about... err.. Reusing and recycling I suppose. So here we go.

So Nunk and the Brimflames are your main fighters. So you wanna get rid of the the first one (Algal wings one) ASAP without Sacrificing him, use this chance to cycle you attack deck to get a good hand, then play as normal, defend your back creatures right then when they have just finished their first (or second if they went first) after they attack and if there is an open spot next to one of there support creature revive Brimflame and use Xerium by sacing Jorres whepcrack and giving it to Brimflame! then move in full force! and if Nunk is ever going to die, use Tonal to bring him down to 3 counters and volia he comes back!

Now the rest is really up to you though!

This time we have our very own Mipedian Lieutenant, Jorre.

Jorre kicks butt in nearly any deck. Yes Xelfe does come with more counters, but his ability is cumulative, in other words his gets smaller each time you use it, whilst Jorre's doesn't. Plus even in a pure Mepedian Deck she can still give Swift 1 and Range, not as good as Xelfe, but then if also put Xelfe in that deck, you can just use his counters for things like Song of Deflection. Here is an example of a pure deck that can use Jorre.
